about

Bob Meanza, even before calling himself Bob, has played piano and a variety of electronic devices - for instance with Kunfufunk.

In 2006, with guitarist Andrea Faccioli, he crafted a couple of musical things: instrumental sketches with some cinematic or descriptive attitude, all born from improvisation, then enriched with layers of electronics and finally gathered on this album.

He named the compilation 'SUPPER', just to be not too serious. In fact he doesn't exactly know why 'SUPPER'. Certainly not because he's good at cooking. But while some songs already had pretentious titles, 'SUPPER' sounded simple and frank.

So SUPPER. You can freely listen to it.

«Though the main reference can be the electronic art-pop from Air (Le Pastiche de Sisyphe), "Supper" is something more. Yes, compared to the french smoothness this is still a low-fi effort, but starting from the two opening tracks - Ognimod, with its piano chords, and L'Orchestrina, with its first-class weaving keyboards and guitars - we get an excellent "soundtrack muzak" that points to movie music from 70s and 80s and to certain exotica flavours.

And, more, Bob knows the fine art of bricolage, that can turn a toyish rhythm in a cinematic sketch (Spring Toy), or evoke pastoral atmospheres a la Penguin Cafe Orchestra with guitar arpeggios and minimal contructs (Fromohio). And finally there's even a growth in tension, with compositions that become acousmatic constructions (Grammophon) or thrilling sceneries that stand between Naif Orchestra, Claudio Simonetti and some rock progressive (Domingo)».
